Onboard the Peugeot 208 T16 - Sebastian Loeb - Pikes Peak - New record - 2013

It's official, Seabastien Loeb driving  the Peugeot 208 T16 is the new Pikes Peak International Hill Climb record holders with a time of  8m 13.878sec.

The 9 time WRC champion defeated Rhys Millen's record of  9m 46.164sec that he set in the 2012 event.

“For me, this was the race of the year,” said Loeb at the finish, 4300 metres high in the Rocky Mountains. “At the beginning of my run there was a bit of pressure for sure because I knew there was so much work and investment from Peugeot and all the different partners. Now, after all the practice, it was just down to me and I had to perform.”

Reports said even well before the race that the Peugeot team was going to be unstoppable, but no one expected such a shattering record.

When asked if he will come back next year Sebastien said:

"To be honest that’s not something we’ve spoken about. I’ve really enjoyed this but we’ll see what happens and who tries to break the record. The feeling is amazing, but the risks are also high."
