Onboard the Honda CB400SF - Takehiro Tsutsui - Team Bagus!

When was the last time you saw a Honda CB400SF being raced to its limit? Maybe never?

Takehiro Tsutsui raced his CB400SF (NC31) in May's D.O.B.A.R event (also known as Taste of Tsukuba) and he had a very fun time doing it!

His CB400 is stock regarding the engine and gearbox  setup, but is equipped with a set of Keihin FCR33's an oversize radiator and FRP bodywork along with Öhlins rear shocks.

The  D.O.B.A.R  races are always held at the Tsukuba circuit and are split in many categories, according to the age, displacement and level of race tune of the motorcycle.

Takehiro's CB400 is included in the D.O.B.A.R Zero4 category, where all the "medium" displacement (typically 400cc 4-strokes and 250cc 2-strokes, as this kind of bikes is very popular in Japan) from the mid 80st o mid 90s compete.

Typically, the grid is consisted of bikes like the Honda NSR250R (R2J-R5K), Yamaha TZR250R (1KT and 3MA), Kawasaki ZXR-4, Yamaha FZR400RR, Kawasaki KR-1 and more.

Although this category is mostly populated with race replicas equipped with an aluminum frame, "slow" commuter bikes with steel frames can compete and if the 5th position that Takehiro finished in is any indication, we could say that these bikes can hold their own pretty good.

The bike was prepared by Team Bagus! a group of guys  working in a shop specializing in bike servicing, parts and race preparation.

The team raced 7 machines in total, including 2 Yamaha R1-Z's a Yamaha XJR1300 and a Kawasaki Zephyr750 with the #23 numberplate.

That bike was the winner of the Zero1 category, launching from the pole position, marking the track record for this category at 1’01”866. This Zephyr750  is the flagship of Bagus! and is currently ridden by Gaku Ohtsu, who also races a Honda CBR600RR at the ST600 category in  the Tsukuba championship.

All bikes are catered by Masafumi Tsuchiya, master mechanic and owner of Bagus! MC shop.

Stay tuned for more videos from Bagus! in the future.
